Welcome to Tracy's Graphics' ©Bunny Fairy Tutorial. This tutorial has been based on an ornament I found an my local gift shop, and I thought it would be fun to try and re-create it in PSP7. This tut requires PSP7, Blade Pro or Super Blade Pro.

I have included a zip file which you can get here. Unzip the file, and extract the selections files into your selections folder within PSP. And place the tube in your PSP tubes folder, and the colour swatch on your PSP7 workspace. I've included lots of screen shots, so please be patient while it's loading. (I've reduced them in size to try and reduce the d/l time)

Right, lets begin!

1 Open up a new image 400x400, transparent background, 16 million colours. Add a new layer, and call it Head.

2 Go to selections, load from disc, and locate the head.sel file. Load this. Flood fill this with an off-white colour #F6F4F0

3 Selection float (Ctrl+F), and apply a cut out using these settings (I used a beige/brown shade for the cutout #C3BD97) :

4 Repeat the cutout but change the vertical and horizontal settings to minus 15. De-select (Ctrl+D).

5 Add a new layer, name it Face. Select your drawing tool and use these settings:

with your foreground colour set to a nice pale rose pink (I used #F587B6) and set your bottom style button to null, like this:

6 Draw in a Y shape with an extra long tail on it to  make up the nose and mouth markings, like this:

7 Add a new layer, name it Eyes. Select your pre-selected shapes tool  and use the elipse shape to draw some small brown eyes. (I used #620808, Antialias checked, line width 1, all other settings un-checked). Then go to Effects>3D Effects>Inner Bevel, and use the following settings:

8 Add a new layer, call it Cheeks. Select the rose pink again (#F587B6). Select your Airbrush tool, and use the following CUSTOM brush (the settings follow automatically) to spray once on each of her cheeks:

9 Go to Effects>Blur>Gaussian Blur, and set it to a radius of 3. Load the head.sel file again, go to selections invert (Ctrl+Shift+I), and hit delete just to clean up any pink that may have gone over the edges. Ctrl+D to de-select. Bunny's head should now look like this:

10 Turn off the background layer (number 1), and merge layers visible. Re-name this layer Head. Add a new layer and name Body. Load the selection from your selections folder called body.sel. Flood fill with the off-white #F6F4F0 that we used for the head. Selection float (Ctrl+F). Apply the same cutout as before (twice - once with 15 and once with -15 for the vertical and horizontal settings). De-select (Ctrl+D). Drag this layer below the head.

11 Add a new layer. Load the legs.sel, and flood fill with the off-white #F6F4F0.  Selection float (Ctrl+F). Apply the same cutout as before (twice - once with 15 and once with -15 for the vertical and horizontal settings). De-select (Ctrl+D). Drag this layer below the body. Bunny should now look like this:

2 Now we need to add some detail to her feet. Add a new layer, name it Feet. Use your draw tool again with the same line width as before, but change it to freehand lines. Draw three lines on her left foot like this (don't worry if you go over the edges - we'll clean that up in a minute):

13 Now Copy and paste as a new selection (Ctrl+C, Ctrl+E), Image>Mirror and position the lines on the right foot. Load the legs.sel file again and invert the selection (Ctrl+Shift+I), and hit delete. De-select (Ctrl+D)

14 Add a new layer, name it Arms. Load the selection arms.sel from your selections folder, and flood fill with the off white #F6F4F0. Selection float (Ctrl+F). Apply the same cutout as before (twice - once with 15 and once with -15 for the vertical and horizontal settings). De-select (Ctrl+D). Make sure this layer is below the body. Bunny should now look like this:

15 Poor bunny hasn't got any ears yet! Let's do something about that now. :o) Add a new layer, name it Ears. Load the ears.sel file from your selections folder, and flood fill with the off white #F6F4F0. Selection float (Ctrl+F). Apply the same cutout as before (twice - once with 15 and once with -15 for the vertical and horizontal settings). De-select (Ctrl+D). Make sure this layer is below the head.

16 Add a new layer, name it Detail. Select your rose pink again #F587B6, and your CUSTOM airbrush that we used earlier for the cheeks. Spray twice on each ear once near to the head, and once more just above that. Go to Effects>Blur>Gaussian Blur, and set it to a radius of 5. Load the ears.sel file again, go to selections invert (Ctrl+Shift+I), and hit delete just to clean up any pink that may have gone over the edges. Ctrl+D to de-select. Bunny should now look like this:

17 Now for the wings that make this bunny into a bunny fairy! Add a new layer and call it Wings. Load the wings.sel from your selections folder and fill with white #FFFFFF. Whilst still selected, go to Selections>Modify>Contract and set it to 3. Hit delete. You are now left with an outline. De-select (Ctrl+D) and use your selection tool to draw a rectangle around the wings. Click on the outline, and it should now be selected like this:

18 Go to Effects>Plug-ins>Super Blade Pro (or Blade Pro depending on which version you have). Select a shiny silver setting. You can use a Gold one if you don't have a silver one, and we can colourize it to make it look silver. Just go to colors>Colorize> and set the hue and saturation both at 0.

19 Add a new layer, name it Mesh. Load your wings.sel selection again. And flood fill with the colour of your choice. I chose a pale lilac #ECB1ED for my wings, but that's up to you! :o) Then go to Effects>Texture Effects>Weave. I changed the weave and gap colours to purple #800080. But if you are using a different colour, just use a colour a few shades darker. Use the following settings:

20 Now go to your layer palette, and lower the opacity by using the slider bar. Lower it to around 30 to make it appear like mesh. See the below:

21 De-select (Ctrl+D). Turn off all of the layers except for Wings and Mesh, merge layers visible. Rename this layer Wings. Bunny should now look like this:

22 Now she needs some underwear and her skirt... Add a new layer, name it Undies. Load undies.sel from your selections folder and flood fill with the same colour you used for the wings. (In my case the lilac #ECB1ED). Selection float (Ctrl+F). Apply the same cutout as before - only reduce the opacity to 28 and change the cutout colour to purple #800080 (or whatever colour you used for your weave gaps etc) -  (twice - once with 15 and once with -15 for the vertical and horizontal settings). De-select (Ctrl+D). Make sure this layer is above the body and legs.

23 Add a new layer, name it Skirt1. Load the skirt1.sel selection from your selections folder and flood fill with the lilac #ECB1ED. Add the weave texture we used for the wings again. Now lower the opacity of the skirt layer to 44.

24 Add a new layer, name it Skirt2, and drag this one below Skirt1. Load the skirt2.sel selection from your selections folder and flood fill with the a darker lilac #E968EE. Add the weave texture we used for the wings again. Now lower the opacity of the skirt layer to 40. Bunny is now dressed - nearly done! She should look like this:

25 Now turn off your background layer (if it isn't already off). And merge all the layers visible. Select all (Ctrl+A), then selection float (Ctrl+F). Selections>Modify>Contract by 1. Go and select your CUSTOM airbrush again. But change the brush to this one, and change the opacity to 100:

26 Add a new layer, name it Glitter. Select you gold glitter tile as your pattern setting it at 100%. Spray patches of glitter here and there on the bunny and her clothes.

27 Add a new layer, name it Tube. Select your tube tool, and locate the Rose Tube. Set the size at 50%. Click once on the bunny. Then select all (Ctrl+A), and selection float (Ctrl+F). Re-size just this layer by 50% (Image>Re-size and make sure you un-check the re-size all layers box). Use the deformation tool to move it around until you are happy with the position and move to the top op the head where the ears start. Your bunny fairy should look like this:

And that is it!! Well done!! You've completed a Bunny Fairy!! I hope you enjoyed my tutorial, if you have any problems, please e-mail me!
